Rooted in Community:POISE 2026’s Journey to Sustainable Sanitation in Dadapayu
In conjunction with POISE 2026’s event series, this year our Social Event aims to go above and beyond. Now what separates the Social Event from our other events you may ask? Well this program makes its mark by being driven by this main goal: to create positive impact through sustainable initiatives. Carrying out strategies that focus on creating a significant impact towards our local community with meaningful and engaging programs.

Across the 29th to the 30th of August, 2026, we at POISE 2026 have been working diligently to implement a sanitation facility in Nogosari, Dadapayu, Semanu, Gunungkidul, Special Region of Yogyakarta. A cause for concern as studies trace graywater discharged directly into local drainage networks and rivers to yield extremely alarming results in regards to the level of sanitation in our local area.
Which brings us to this year’s main focus, as we look to address stagnant household water in rural areas by means of improving soil infiltration through sustainable sanitation solutions. That was our above, now how does POISE 2026 go beyond? Well as the old saying goes, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” So to target this problem at its roots, we also involved the community and introduced them to the importance of environmental sanitation along with the measures they can take that result in a cleaner and healthier environment not just for themselves but the next generations that come after them.

We at POISE 2026 strongly believe in the idea of leaving every place better than when you found it. Solutions and quick fixes aren’t enough, we aim to make changes in the culture that last. Understanding the community from its roots, responding to real needs and creating an everlasting influence that can last for generations to come.
